While studying I apparently had time to shop for fabric and sewing machines. I’ve had my eye open for a good deal on a used Janome 1600 DBX and here she is. A straight stitch only machine built for quilting.
My intention was to put her on a Grace frame and do some free motion quilting. I’m afraid, however, that I would lose patience with that setup rather quickly. The narrow harp would eventually cause problems with anything larger than a crib quilt. Consequently, I am back to the original plan of learning to free motion while set up on the table. I sincerely doubt I will ever do anything large that way either so it’s a bit of a catch-22 situation. At least I won’t be wasting money on the frame this way. Or so I thought.
